“YOU DON’T NEED TO SEW IT” Episode #9 – DIY Boots
Today we’re going to show you how to update the look of a boring pair of boots with an old or torn jacket! AND YOU WON’T EVEN NEED TO SEW IT! DIY Boots in minutes.
For this fun and unique DIY boots project, you’re going to need:
- A pair of boots of course
- Your used plaid jacket
- A ruler
- A marker
- Paper plate
Step #1: The first thing you’ll do is to is cut off the sleeves from the jacket. You need enough so that it can go into the boot a few inches and still have enough at the top to fold over a couple times. We measured out 12 inches for ours on each arm.
Step #2: Once you’ve got it all marked off you take the scissors and cut off the arms. Then the rest of the jacket can be set aside and saved for other projects!
Step #3: Now you take your speed-sew and add it along the cut edge of one of the arms. Once you’ve got it all the way around, carefully put it inside the boot so that you still have about half of it sticking out the top. Repeat on the other side.
Step #4: Next you just take one of the boots and fold over the sleeve a couple times so that you have a cuff around the top. Again repeat that with the other boot as well.
Step #5: Finally you take your paper plate and put some speed-sew on it. Then with your toothpick you can grab some of it to carefully to add under the fold of the cuff to ensure it stays in place. You don’t need a lot here – just a few little dabs around it will keep it from unraveling.
There you have it – now those DIY boots or boring boots have a lot more colour and pizazz! Without the need to sew it!
NEXT MONTH WE’LL SHOW YOU SOMETHING COOL YOU CAN DO TO UPDATE THE LOOK OF A BACKPACK! That’s right, so check back then and we’ll show you how to do that without the need to sew it.
