How to Make Travel Shoe Bags | No-Sew Tutorial

Here’s an easy, beginner-friendly no-sew tutorial on how to make your travel shoe bags! Every traveller should own travel shoe bags; they keep your shoes separate from your clean clothes and keep your travel items smelling nice for as long as possible by blocking off odours and dust.

This no-sew tutorial takes less than an hour for two shoe bags. If you would rather keep your shoes in one bag, all you have to do is adjust the bag’s measurements!

STEPS:

1. Start with your fabric folded in half with the folded edge on the bottom. My starting fabric measurements are 40” wide by 26” tall

2. Place your widest shoe you have on the fabric, leaving about an inch to half an inch of fabric on the sides and about 2 to 3 inches on the top.

3. Cut out your two shoe bags. For reference, I am size 7, and my shoe measurements are 9.5” by 13” tall.

4. Once you have your two cutouts. Grab your Speed-Sew fabric glue, a Q-tip and a dish or container lid to squeeze the Speed-Sew onto.

5. Fold open one of your shoe bags and start applying a line of speed sew along the two sides, 2 to 3 inches down from the top on both sides

6. Once that is done, fold the fabric back over and lightly apply pressure where you glued and pin it to stay in place.

7. Now grab one piece of your ribbon or string and lay it one to two inches down from the top edge. If your ribbon or string is on the thicker side, you can fold it in half and iron it down

8. Start applying a line of glue along the top and then fold the top edge over, ensuring not to get any glue on the ribbon and apply pressure.

9. Make sure to run your fingers in between the fabric to ensure no glue has gone through, and let the glue dry for 5 to 10 minutes

10. Once the glue is dry, remove the pins, flip the bag over and repeat the same steps on the other side, and you can place a piece of cardboard in between the fabric while it dries to ensure the two sides won’t stick together.

11. After letting both bags dry for about 20 to 30 minutes, you can then turn them right side out. Make sure to poke the corners out and knot both ends of the ribbons or string together

And just like that, you created travel shoe bags without sewing, using Speed-Sew fabric glue!
