Here’s how to easily create an apron with thick wrap-around straps and a front pocket in under one hour with Speed-Sew fabric glue. For this DIY apron, there is no stencil or pattern to follow, just simple measurements and cuts. You’ll need 1.5 yards or 1.4 metres of fabric, preferably thicker cotton, fabric scissors, a ruler or measuring tape, a pen, Speed-Sew fabric glue, and an iron.

STEPS
1. Start by folding your fabric in half length-wise with the non-patterned side out and the folded side closest to you.
2. On the left side of the fabric, leave about a half inch to an inch of seam allowance, measure 13 inches up, and draw a line
3. Then measure 31.5 inches horizontally along the folded side, mark it, and draw a line 13.5 inches up from your mark
4. Now that you have two lines 31.5 inches apart, draw a line to connect the two.
5. Now measure 6.5 inches up from your first line and make a mark. Then, measure 8 inches horizontally along the top line and mark it. Connect the two dots, making a curved line.
6. Once you have all the lines drawn out, grab your scissors and cut along the lines, creating your apron outline
7. Use the top section where we did not cut to create the waist ties and neck strap. For the two waist straps, cut them 4 inches wide, then cut them to 38 inches so they can wrap around the font, but if you don’t like that look, you can cut them to be between 25 to 30 inches
8. Cut the neck strap 4.5 inches, but you can also do either 2.5 or 3.5 inches if you like thinner straps, then cut it to 30 inches in length, which I will be cutting shorter later once the glue has dried
9. Apply Speed Sew Fabric Glue to the top edge of the strap, fold the bottom edge up, apply pressure,, repeat that on all the straps and put them off to the side to dry.
10. To create the front pocket, fold your fabric in half and cut out a rectangle 15 by 9 inches. Once you have your pocket cut out, fold it in half with the non-patterned side facing out. Leave a half-inch at the top and apply glue down the sides. Once both sides are glued, fold over the rough edges, glue them down, and place a piece of cardboard in the pocket to ensure it doesn’t stick shut.
11. Once the straps are dry, turn them right side out
12. To make the pocket two-sided, place a thin line of glue down the middle of the inside of the pocket and apply pressure,
13. Next to hide the rough edges on the apron and straps, fold the edges in twice, iron them down, then place Speed-Sew along the inside of the second fold, then apply pressure and repeat on all 6 sides.
14. For the waist straps, fold the edges away from the crease and glue it down, then glue the straps onto the apron.
15. The last step is to glue the pocket onto the apron. Find the middle, decide how high or low you want your pocket to sit on your apron, and apply glue to the edges of the pocket.
